SmartClean: Run Optimization Scan

This guide outlines the steps to launch and monitor an Optimization Scan within the application's SmartClean Dashboard. An Optimization Scan analyzes your Mac for large and junk files without deleting anything — use SmartClean: Run Quick Cleanup or the steps below to remove what it finds.

Running the Scan

  1. Launch the application by clicking its icon in the taskbar.
  2. Select Open to access the Dashboard.
  3. Go to the SmartClean Dashboard.
  4. In the Accessory View, select Scan Now to start the Optimization Scan.

Monitoring the Scan

  1. A notification confirms the app is awaiting results, visible in the Content View and the Dashboard's upper-right corner.
  2. You can Hide or Cancel the scan at any time.
Note — Processing time depends on the total number of files and may take several minutes.

Reviewing Your Results

Once complete, you'll see an overview showing:

  • Total count of Large and Junk Files found
  • A Clean Up option for each category
  • View Report, showing the scan type, date, duration, and the number of junk and large files found

Select Go to Disk Space Monitor to review and clean the files found — see SmartClean: Disk Space Monitor for the full review and cleanup steps.
