SmartClean: Run Quick Cleanup

The following steps outline how to perform a Quick Cleanup using the application:

Starting the Cleanup

  1. Launch the application by clicking its icon in the taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Dashboard by selecting the "Open" icon.
  3. Go to the SmartClean Dashboard.
  4. In the Accessory View, select “Clean Now” to initiate the Quick Cleanup.

Monitoring the Scan

  1. A notification message will confirm that the app is awaiting scan results. This message appears in the Content View and the top right of the Dashboard.
  2. An active counter displays the number of files currently being deleted.
  3. In the View Section, you can choose to Hide or Cancel the running scan.
    • Note: Scan duration varies based on the file count and may take a few minutes.

Reviewing and Cleaning Files

  1. Once the scan is complete, click on “Disk Space Monitor” within the Content View section.
  2. This section shows the items selected for cleaning.
  3. Use the drop-down menu in the Content View section to select the file type for review:
    • Large Files
    • Junk

Handling Large Files

  1. If Large Files is selected, a list of files and the corresponding GB usage will appear.
    • To view a file's contents, select the arrow icon or three horizontal dots and click “Reveal in finder”.
  2. To delete (Clean) a file, select the file.
  3. Then, select “Clean Now”.
    • Alternatively, select the three horizontal dots and click “Delete”.
  4. Confirm the action by selecting "Delete File" in the pop-up window.

Handling Junk Files

  1. If Junk files is selected, a list of files and the corresponding kB usage will appear.
    • "Review Before Cleaning" includes selected files for:
      • Trash
      • Downloads
    • "Safe to Clean" includes selected files for:
      • Caches
      • Logs
  2. To review selected files in detail, click the expand icon (>) for Trash and/or Downloads.
  3. Within the expanded list, you can further expand each file to see the file Name.
  4. Hover over a file and select the arrow icon to navigate to the file in your Finder.
    • Alternatively, click the three horizontal dots and select “Reveal in Finder” from the drop-down menu.

  5. To clean all files in a category, click on the category (“Trash”, “Download”, “Caches”, or “Logs”) and then click “Clean Now”.
    • For “Trash” and “Download” categories, you can also clean an individual file by selecting it and clicking “Clean Now” or by clicking the three horizontal dots and selecting “Delete”.
  6. Confirm the action by selecting "Delete File" in the pop-up window.
