Trusted Applications Blocked with Firewall Enabled

Applies to: Intego ONE for Mac · Firewall

If the firewall blocks an app you trust from accessing the internet, check the app’s firewall rule.

Check and update the application's Firewall rule

  1. Open Intego ONE and go to Firewall > Network Rules (Traffic Control Settings).
  2. Search for the blocked apps:
    • If the app has a Block rule: Select the three dots (…) next to the rule, then change it to Allow.
    • If the app isn’t listed: Select (+) icon, find the app in your Applications folder, and add it with an Allow rule. Choose the traffic direction you want to allow.
  3. If you recently updated the app, delete its old rule and add it again. An update can change the app’s code signature, so the firewall may no longer recognize it.
  4. Save your changes and check whether the application can now connect.

See Create a new Firewall Rule for complete instructions on adding a rule.

Still not resolved?

If the application is still blocked after updating its rule, submit a request and include:

  • The name of the blocked app
  • Whether it was listed in the Firewall's application list, and what rule it had (Block, Allow, Ask)
  • Whether this started after a recent update to the app or to macOS
  • The exact error message, if any
  • A screenshot of the app's current Firewall rule, if possible
