Applies to: Intego ONE for Mac · VPN
If your IP address doesn’t change after you connect to the VPN, or an IP checker shows a location that doesn’t match your chosen VPN server, follow these steps in order. Continue only if the previous step doesn’t help.
❶ Verify your VPN connection and recheck your IP
- Open Intego ONE and confirm the VPN shows Connected.
- Visit an IP-checking website, such as whatismyip.com or ipleak.net, to view your current IP address and location.
- If the IP address hasn’t changed, disconnect and reconnect the VPN.
- Check your IP address again in a private or incognito browser window. This prevents saved browser data from showing an older IP address.
➋ Check for a WebRTC leak
Your VPN may hide your IP address correctly while your browser reveals it through WebRTC, a feature used for browser-based calls. This means the problem comes from the browser, not the VPN.
- Connect to the VPN, then visit ipleak.net.
- Find the WebRTC section. If it shows your real public IP address, your browser has a WebRTC leak.
- Fix the leak:
- Chrome: Install a WebRTC control extension to block leaks.
- Firefox: Enter about:config in the address bar. Search for media.peerconnection.enabled, and change it to false.
- Return to ipleak.net and check that your real public IP address no longer appears.
Still not resolved?
If your IP address still doesn’t change or shows the wrong VPN server location, Generate a debug log report and submit a request and include:
- The IP-checking websites you used.
- Whether Intego ONE shows the VPN as Connected.
- The server location you tested.
- Whether you checked your IP address on more than one website.
