A false positive is a safe file that’s mistakenly flagged as a threat. If you think a detection is wrong, you can send the file to the Intego team for review.
❶ Keep the file in quarantine
Don’t restore or delete the file yet. Leave it in quarantine and note its name, location, and the detection name shown by Intego ONE.
| Important — Only treat a detection as a false positive when you have good reason to trust the file. If you’re unsure, leave it in quarantine. |
➋ Determine which engine is detecting the file
Intego ONE uses multiple detection engines, including one built specifically for Intego and one for Avira malware.
- Click the Intego app icon › Open.
- Go to Settings › Antivirus.
- Uncheck Detect Windows Malware.
- Return to the Main Dashboard, then back to Antivirus Settings, and rescan the file.
- If Intego ONE no longer flags the file: The Avira engine detected it. Continue to Step 3 to report the file, or leave Detect Windows Malware off if you don’t need it.
- If Intego ONE still flags the file: The Intego engine detected it. Continue to Step 3 to report the file, add it to your Safe List, or leave Detect Windows Malware off if you don’t need it.
❸ Submit the file for review
If Intego ONE still flags the file, submit a request. Include:
- The file name.
- The detection name shown by Intego ONE.
- Where the file came from.
- The troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried.
Our team will analyze the file and let you know the result. If it’s safe, we may update our virus definitions so it isn’t flagged again.
