Intego ONE shows the highest temperature reported by any of your Mac’s sensors at that moment. Your Mac has many built-in sensors that check heat in different internal areas, including around the CPU.
When your Mac is working hard, one sensor can briefly show a higher temperature than the others. This is normal behavior and doesn’t always mean your Mac is overheating.
How Intego ONE checks for overheating
The temperature number shown in Intego ONE is not what decides whether to show an overheating warning.
To check whether your Mac is actually running too hot, Intego ONE uses your Mac’s overall heat status. This is the same status macOS uses to manage cooling and decide when your Mac needs to reduce heat.
That’s why you may sometimes see a high temperature number without an overheating warning. This is expected. It means your Mac’s overall heat status is still healthy, even if one sensor reading is higher than the others.
The alert is what matters most. Intego ONE will notify you if your Mac reaches a state that needs your attention.
