Create a New Firewall Rule

Applies to: Intego ONE for Mac · Firewall

A firewall rule tells Intego ONE whether to allow or block an app’s internet or local network connection. Create a rule when you want to allow a blocked app or stop an app from connecting.

Automatic Rule Creation

When Traffic Filtering is on, Intego ONE automatically shows a pop-up whenever a new app or domain tries to access your network. When the pop-up appears, choose:

  • Allow — Let the app or domain access your network.
  • Deny — Block the app or domain from accessing your network.
  • Allow Only Once — Let it access your network for the current session only.

Manual Rule Creation

Open the Firewall dashboard

In Intego ONE, click Firewall. In the main dashboard, find the New Rule and select Create.

Decide how the rule should handle network access:

  • Allow: Grants network access
  • Ask: Ask for your permission each time the app requests network access.
  • Deny: Block the app from accessing the network.

Select the traffic direction

Choose which direction the rule applies to:

  • All: Incoming and outgoing connections
  • Incoming: Connections coming into your Mac
  • Outgoing: Connections leaving your Mac

(Optional) Configure advanced settings

You can further limit the rule to:

  • A specific website, domain, or IP address
  • A specific TCP or UDP port

Finalize the rule

Select Create to save. The rule takes effect immediately and appears in Network Rules (Traffic Control Settings).
