What Is Dual Protection?
Dual Protection is an add-on for Intego X9 VirusBarrier that extends your antivirus coverage to include a Windows-specific antivirus engine, protecting the Windows side of your Mac in addition to offering coverage for your standalone Windows PC.
Do You Actually Need It?
You likely only need Dual Protection if you use Windows alongside your Mac in one of the following ways:
- Boot Camp — Apple's built-in tool for installing and running Windows natively on a separate partition of your Mac.
- Virtualization software — third-party apps like Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, which let you run Windows inside a virtual machine while macOS is also running.
- A separate Windows PC — a standalone Windows computer you use in addition to your Mac.
If you don't use Windows in any of these ways — no Boot Camp, no virtualization software, and no separate Windows PC — you don't need Dual Protection. Your standard Intego X9 VirusBarrier subscription already covers macOS.
